Oh, and for those of us who haven't, please consider shifting your CYDY into a cash account so those shares can't be borrowed for shorting. It's not that tough, Schwab let me establish a separate cash account for that purpose. I had thought that putting in a good-til-canceled sell order at a high price accomplished the same thing, but my friend ChatGPT says no:
" 1. GTC Orders Do Not “Lock” Shares
Placing a GTC limit sell order does not remove the shares from your broker’s pool of lendable securities. The shares:
Remain in your account and visible
Are still considered "available" for margin lending or securities lending
Can be loaned to short sellers through your broker's stock lending program
So unless your shares are explicitly restricted (see below), your broker can still lend them out."
