Climate United Fund Presses Forward in Legal Pursuit of Obligated Funds
Washington D.C. (March 17, 2025) -- Climate United Fund (“Climate United”) and the two other National Clean Investment Fund awardees were granted a temporary restraining order by Judge Chutkan in the US District Court for Washington, D.C., halting the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) termination of the grant agreements and preventing Citibank from transferring funds out of grantee bank accounts.
The decision comes after a court filing yesterday where the EPA provided no credible evidence to justify the termination of the grant agreement. Climate United will continue its legal process to fully restore its program.
In response, Climate United CEO Beth Bafford offered the following statement:
“Today’s decision is a strong step in the right direction. In the coming weeks, we will continue working towards a long-term solution that will allow us to invest in projects that deliver energy savings, create jobs, and boost American manufacturing in communities across the country.”
