Poll Finds More Consumers Want to Use Hemp Deliver

Poll Finds More Consumers Want to Use Hemp Delivery Services

A new poll has determined that frequent consumers of marijuana like using delivery platforms to order their products. The poll involved 655 respondents and was carried out from February 20th to 23rd by Nugg MD, a leading medical cannabis technology platform.

Results show that 55% of consumers liked buying marijuana products from applications like DoorDash.

This news comes after DoorDash announced earlier in the year that they’d start delivering THC products derived from hemp in various markets, including New Jersey, where independent delivery firms and legal marijuana dispensaries are allowed to transport products to customers.

The poll also found that all respondents consumed marijuana regularly.

The results are similar to a survey from last year, which determined that over 40% of marijuana consumers were using hemp-THC products daily. Andrew Graham, the Head of Communications at NuggMD, stated that this was evidence that the federal prohibition of marijuana was unfairly limiting regulated and legal businesses which paid taxes and served Americans.

He explained that prohibition made it harder for consumers to access legal products, which led some to the unregulated market, thus reducing consumer safety. Graham also commended DoorDash for amending its policy to include hemp products that their consumers wanted and added that he hoped others would follow suit.

These developments come as the state-licensed marijuana industry and the hemp industry continue to vie for a larger share of the market as intoxicating hemp products continue to proliferate the states.

Intoxicating hemp products became popular with the approval of the 2018 Farm Bill by Congress. While this bill allowed farmers to cultivate and sell industrial hemp, it also created a grey area that allowed products with THCA, delta-8, and delta-10 to be sold. These compounds are also found in marijuana and can induce a high when ingested.

In an effort to control the use of these products, states have implemented different rules and regulations outlawing them. For instance, New Jersey recently enacted a law that restricts the sale of intoxicating hemp products and bans the sale of these products to minors. Gov. Phil Murphy is also expected to introduce a wholesale tax which shall be imposed on businesses that sell intoxicating hemp products.

Over in California, a ban on consumable hemp products with detectable THC amounts continues to be enforced. The state has also set a limit of 5 servings per package and limits the sale of these products to only individuals aged 21 and above.

The public is showing a growing interest in hemp-sourced intoxicants. Clarification at the federal level would help the entire hemp industry, including companies like Software Effective Solutions Corp. (d/b/a MedCana) (OTC: SFWJ), to know what is federally allowed and what isn’t. State-level laws would then have their own iterations of this broader regulatory framework.
