Out of all the possible plots that could possibly exist, I'm of the opinion that one involving drones would be the most likely at this current time. Kamikaze drone swarms, or drones carrying some kind of payload that could be remotely released, etc.
Also remember that just a week or so ago DJI drone company (Chinese) updated all of its flight software to disable 'geo-fencing' restrictions = anyone can now fly their drone into previously restricted areas.
Lots of media focus and attention on drones lately. Preprogramming perhaps?
