EB-5 projects require the investment of $1.05 Mill

EB-5 projects require the investment of $1.05 Million - reduced to $800K in a Targeted Employment Area (TEA) - so the number of investor slots in each program is determined by dividing the amount to be raised by whichever of these figures is relevant to the location (in a TEA or not).

There are 10,000 slots a year and any project opened is usually fully subscribed within a few weeks or months.

Each investor receives a Conditional Green Card immediately upon making the investment - and may move to the USA with their family - and once they have proved that their individual investment has created 10 new, permanent, full-time jobs - apply to have their Conditional Green Card upgraded to a Permanent Green Card - usually at around 18 months to have that part completed by the 2-year point.

3 years later - ie 5 years total from making the investment - they can apply to take the US Citizenship Test and become Naturalized or they can just remain as Permanent Green Card holders.

With the investment amounts high now by European income levels, most of the investors currently come from Asia.

The EB-5 Program also offers an opportunity for people currently only on HB-1B visas (with an uncertain future) to gain a guaranteed path to US Citizenship. One of the EB-5 investment attorneys in the field was making that point this weekend:
