UNHOLY SONG the acclaimed new thriller from director Arthur G. Night will celebrate its victory at last week's L.A. Punk Film Festival with news of a major comic book promotion from Hannover House. Beginning in early January, cinemas across the USA will be distributing "FREE" comic books telling the story of UNHOLY SONG, and ending on a cliff-hanger that can only be resolved by seeing the movie. The 16-page comic book is a standard sized edition and will be distributed free-of-charge through self-shipping displays sent to major theatres.
"'UNHOLY SONG' is such a unique movie," said Hannover House CEO Eric Parkinson. "We felt that the audience for the film would respond favorably to a comic book adaptation. For us to print and distribute hundreds-of-thousands of copies to consumers, free-of-charge, is a great way to build demand to see the film when it hits theatres in late February," he continued.
The film won as BEST THRILLER last weekend at the L.A. Punk Film Festival in North Hollywood . Although this is not a high-profile festival, it does demonstrate the counter-culture appeal for "UNHOLY SONG" and the consumer reaction to this horror-thriller.
"The last time a comic book promotion like this was used, the results were incredible. We printed and distributed 500,000 free copies of a 'Future Shock' comic book before that title hit video stores. In response to the enhanced consumer awareness, the title was one of the top renters for that year, with 12-weeks on the Billboard Top 40 Video Rentals Charts, and a return-on-investment for the company of 365%. We have every reason to believe that a similar comic book promotion for ' UNHOLY SONG ' will deliver impressive results for the film's theatrical launch," concluded Parkinson.
UNHOLY SONG was filmed last October in the Northern California Bay Area , including Sacramento, Stockton and Lodi, California. Principal stars include Jessica Chavez, Sean Gestl, Quint Gabriel, Eric Parkinson and Chris Orozco. Producers were Arthur G. Night, Quint Gabriel and Victor Reyes. Executive Producers include Eric Parkinson, Bradley Elliott and Rich Bach.
