The past four years under Biden have been historic for fighting climate change. A series of legislative packages, most notably the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act, precipitated a surge in public and private investment, the reshoring of energy-related manufacturing, as well as an outpouring of innovation in technologies designed to combat greenhouse gas emissions. On the regulatory side, Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency passed regulations that would simultaneously prop up industries like electric vehicles while also cracking down on emissions.
“What would Trump do in the next four years? If you look at 2016 and try to create analogies, I think that’s going to be wrong,” says Nadim Maluf, CEO of EV battery software and analytics company Qnovo. “The policies that were put in place by the Biden administration–that train has left the station. You can’t go back and rescind what the Inflation Reduction Act has done.”
