Ozempic and Wegovy can have horrific side effects, including chronic severe constipation, or the reverse -- constant diarrhea. Also, those drugs may be just fine for overweight people, but what about people who are NOT overweight and/or are older people with cachexia? Taking a drug that can cause weight loss in people who should NOT lose weight could be dangerous or fatal. There are going to be lots of people who should not take a GLP-1 drug but need treatment for MASH. The market is still wide open for a safer alternative.
We may be seeing just the tip of the iceberg now, in numbers of people who are having bad and possibly permanent side effects from taking these drugs. If I were considering taking one of them, reading about the horrific and life-altering possible side effects would be enough to make me say NOPE.
