It looks like we (the world population) may have come close to another catastrophic outbreak of a virus with a very high death rate. Rwanda is experiencing a Marburg Virus outbreak. It looks like they may have it contained. One wonders what would have happened if an infected person had made it onto a plane, came into contact with a large group of people (think sporting event, marketplace, etc).

I took a quick look to see how the this hemorrhagic virus affects the immune system and found that it multiplies with the Dendritic Cells. It uses CCR5 to modulate the immune response to mask itself from the immune system. Would a CCR5 antagonist help regain proper immune system response? Would Leronlimab be a beneficial treatment for Marburg Virus? Maybe Ohm20 could take a peek and see if he can determine that. This paper is from 2004.
