I am continuing my studies of GOSY's hardware and software architecture. It is very biological in nature since it is layered like virtually all life on this planet, save slow and dumb jellyfish! Each layer takes in abstracted data, does its thing, and then responds with abstracted updates. This all happens on the onboard LAN running at 10mHz. This means that inter savant communication occurs in very low single digit milliseconds, if not microseconds.
Some academic mobile robot researchers are investigating "Worst Case Execution Time" or WCET. That is the total time to see, understand what is seen, react and then the time for that physical action to be initiated.
GOSY is running their depth camera and GeckoImager(tm) at 20fps, or getting full FOV every 50ms. GeckoNav(tm) requires 15-20ms to update from vision data received to locomotion data sent. The GeckoMotorController(tm) updates every 21ms. So the WCET here is 91ms or less!
THAT IS FANTASTIC! ESPECIALLY ON LOW COST CONSUMER ELECTRONICS!
Here's why: A jet fighter pilot's WCET is 110-120 milliseconds. Spencer's low cost automatic self navigation solution is 20-25% QUICKER than a trained, experienced jet fighter pilot.
THIS IS WORLD CLASS PERFORMANCE for PENNIES!!!!
Eg., this is why: Google's <ahem> driverless car has a worse WCET and cost tens of thousands of dollars to work. And then NOT as good as what Spencer has invented here at GOSY.
GOSY really is AMAZING!
