The abbreviation PEMF stands for “pulsating electromagnetic field”. PEMF technology is intended to use electromagnetic, pulsating fields from a medical perspective. The body is stimulated without contact by the electromagnetic fields. The excitation of the nerve pathways ensures the release of certain messenger substances that accelerate the body's self-healing process.
The history of PEMF technology
PEMF technology has been used for more than 3,500 years. While PEMF has been doubted by conventional medicine in the past decades, the technology is now moving more and more to the fore. The implementation of numerous studies, in particular the proven positive effects of electromagnetic fields on the healing of bone fractures, has led to PEMF also being recognized by parts of conventional medicine. Ancient people recognized the healing powers of magnets 3,500 years ago. In ancient Egypt and Rome, magnets were used to treat numerous diseases. Important personalities such as Hippocrates, Cleopatra and Aristotle used the potential of magnetic fields to cure diseases. The Earth's magnetic field was already researched by the Egyptians. They wanted to improve the quality of life of animals and people. However, during this time, magnetism was viewed as a type of healing life force that could not be explained physically. <<<<Magnetic field therapy quickly spread throughout the world.>>>>
Quickly? Back then? No social media. Imagine!!
With all the technology available today, why can't we spread the good news more efficiently.
Advanced cultures in North America and Native American people also recognized the potential benefits of magnetism very early.
Theophrastus: the founder of magnetic field therapy
Modern magnetic field therapy was invented by Paracelsus, better known as Theophrastus von Hohenheim. In 1528, the doctor wrote a script in which magnetic fields were described as effective therapeutic agents against all kinds of cramps. The next scientific elaborations took place in 1838 (Gauss) and 1835 (Simonov). The clinical use of magnetic fields was first introduced by a Viennese doctor named Franz Anton Mesmer. Wolff, Fukuda, Yasudo and Galvani proved at the beginning of the 20th century that changing magnetic fields with certain impulses have a positive effect on bone growth.
Past clinical work
In the 1960s, most of the scientific and clinical studies on PEMF were conducted in Japan and Russia. PEMF technology is recognized in a much more important way there than in the rest of the world. In 1982, Professor Basset was able to successfully demonstrate in a study that bone fractures healed significantly better with pulsating magnetic fields. The results were published in well-known medical journals and thus reached wide circles of conventional medical research. Through clinical studies and scientific publications, the functionality of PEMF technology has been made accessible to the general public.
The recent history of PEMF technology
PEMF technology has constantly evolved. Numerous products have been able to establish themselves in the last decade. Due to numerous new developments, products that are safe and effective can now be used. Due to the compact design, home use is possible without any problems. In addition to promoting healing of bone fractures, PEMF technology also has high potential in other areas.
The pulsating magnetic fields are suspected of strengthening blood circulation and increasing the flow of oxygen. Improvements in protein synthesis, cell nutrition, thrombosis, the entire immune system and nerve cell regeneration can also occur. Allergic skin reactions can be weakened through the targeted use of PEMF technology. In the 1890s, magnetic therapy was used to treat asthma, gout, rheumatism and thrombophlebitis.
In 1978, PEMF technology was successfully approved in the USA, which gave it a high degree of respectability. In Germany, research projects using PEMF technology are being carried out at the Universities of Leipzig, Munich, Saarbrücken, Wuppertal, Würzburg and Halle. A large German study with more than 700 patients demonstrated positive effects on blood parameters. Treatment with PEMF technology is becoming increasingly popular and numerous books have been published on the subject.
Professor Trock from the renowned Yale University has treated more than 200,000 patients with pulsating electromagnetic fields within 15 years. PEMF technology has a great future. Ultimately, the magnetic fields pass through the human body without electricity or contact. Since the body's cells cannot distinguish between their own and external currents, PEMF technology has great potential. In the future, PEMF technology will definitely make history!
