The below is a common side effect when companies go dark and delay filings etc. People start guessing at what’s goin on. They create their own narrative.
Companies can help mitigate these non company created narratives through better communication and timely filings. In the meantime, if something is created that is false/inaccurate put out clarification through a tweet etc.
