I was checking with Vanguard Brokerage re the GNBTQ stock etc..and wanted to remove from my account as apparently they are worthless. The form I was given was this:
"There are no proceeds when securities are abandoned, so this request will NOT generate any tax forms for you. For information on the tax consequences of abandoning securities, please consult a qualified tax professional.
Once we process this form, you'll no longer be able to access cost basis information online at vanguard.com for the securities you're abandoning. Please make a record of your cost basis information and any other documentation before you return this form to us."
So, apparently, I cannot sell as worthless and cannot claim my $19,000+ loss!!! Anybody else run into this non claim of loss?? thanks
