I lost my girlfriend to GBM. The original tumor area stopped growing for 9 months after the standard 6 weeks of radiation and chemo with Temozolamide. We also tried a novel treatment with radio waves called Optune after the standard treatment that may have also caused the tumor to be dormant. When it did start growing again she took part in a clinical trial at UCSF with Medicenna's Trojan Horse drug MDNA55. After that, the original tumor site never grew and seemed dormant in scans. But after 11 months of clear scans, on the 12th month a new tumor area appeared, far from the original growth. That one was too deep in her brain to be treated with MDNA55 so she went through more radiation. Finally, a tumor started growing in yet another area to which she finally succumbed 45 months after her original diagnosis. This is anecdotal, but the recurrence after various treatments is the usual progression of the disease from what I understand.
So if, as we all hope, Mr. Chan's tumor disappears or goes dormant, I'm hoping that he stays on LL and we can see if it can prevent the metastasis that is so pernicious in this disease. Ganesha
