Ken, one of my patients works at the NIH, and I will be in touch this week. I’m currently managing several geriatric patients suffering from long COVID, and their symptoms remain unresolved despite various attempts. Notably, many of them report disequilibrium and dizziness, which have resulted in falls and joint fractures. These issues are often dismissed as merely the effects of aging or standing up too quickly. For example, one patient who once completed a solo 25-mile kayak trip from Catalina Island to Long Beach now struggles to get out of a chair without assistance. This is real and costing the healthcare system tremendously.
