For sure there is a narrative against CYDY, but as is slowly coming out, the clinical trials were intentionally botched, there was an antipathy at the FDA (almost wrote the conspira--word but stopped short), and abundant, deliberately-misinforming press, based on hidden conflicts of interest.
Lies can get halfway around the globe before the truth can get its pants on.
We have a lot of narrative and prejudice distance to recover, but slowly, step by step, Dr. L. is doing it. For the good of the world, primarily (and we get to come along for the ride).
(BTW Gilead, to name just one big pharma who *isn't* in it for the good of the world primarily, kept its own more effective HIV drug away from patients in favor of a drug they were already selling, so they could maximize profit from the less-effective drug before its patent expired. Seriously. They didn't care. And their defending counsel was S-A, who seems to be everywhere in big pharma cases...)
