Rep. Chip Roy calls for House to impeach VP Kamala Harris for ‘lying’ about Biden’s mental capacity

The Texas Republican also wants his House colleagues to conduct oversight hearings to find out who else in Mr. Biden’s orbit knew about his condition before last week’s disastrous debate performance against a coherent Donald Trump.
“Kamala Harris should be impeached for lying to America about the state of President Biden’s mental capacity to carry out the powers and duties of the office — and shirking her unique constitutional obligation to take the necessary steps to invoke the 25th Amendment,” Mr. Roy posted Wednesday on X.
He added that House Republicans should hold hearings when they return to Washington next week to expose what appears to be a cover-up by the Biden administration.
“What did they know, and when did they know it?” Mr. Roy said. “And who is ‘they?’”
On Friday, the day after the debate, Mr. Roy said he would introduce a resolution calling on Ms. Harris to invoke the 25th Amendment and convene the Biden Cabinet to declare the president unable to discharge the duties and powers of the office. He filed the resolution later that day.
Some Democrats, including Texas Rep. Lloyd Doggett, have begun public calls for Mr. Biden to abandon his presidential campaign and let someone else in the party replace him as the nominee. But there is not a similar campaign in the party to pressure Mr. Biden to step down immediately or for the Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment.
Republicans, however, are seizing on the moment to argue that Mr. Biden is unfit to serve as president now and in the future.
“Democrat Party elites and their media mouthpieces are now obsessed with replacing Biden on the ballot. But if he’s unfit to run for president, he certainly isn’t fit to *be* president,” said Sen. J.D. Vance, Ohio Republican and a contender to be Mr. Trump’s running mate.
“If he doesn’t run again, he needs to resign as commander in chief,” Mr. Vance posted on X, referring to Mr. Biden.
Donald Trump Jr. posted in agreement with Mr. Vance.
“The real ’Big Lie’ — pushed by every major Democrat and the entire left-wing media for 4 years now — is that Joe Biden was ever mentally fit to serve as commander in chief,” he said.
Mr. Roy piled on, arguing that Democrats who claim they didn’t know about Mr. Biden’s mental state are just spewing “BS.”
Mr. Biden “knew — and it’s impeachable that he lied & covered up his dementia,” Mr. Roy said.
He claimed Mr. Biden’s advisers, first lady Jill Biden, top Democrats like Ms. Harris, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries all knew — “The whole time.”
