"Unusual’ cancers emerged after the pandemic. Doctors ask if covid is to blame.
“Covid wrecks the body, and that’s where cancers can start,” Tuveson said, explaining how autopsy studies of people who died of covid-19 showed prematurely aged tissue.
When I was 11 I figured out that the start of cancer was damage to the body and the repair messing up. That wasn't pointed out in the Encyclopedia Britannica my mom bought but I put two and two together. I wasn't up on DNA at that point because I was only on the letter C in my reading of the entire encyclopedia.
Now I know any damage to the body can precipitate cancer because in the repair process genetic mutations in the cells can develop that can cause uncontrolled reproduction of the cells. That damage can be mechanical, environmental or damage from viruses all aided by genetic variations that exist from birth.
