I understand why you expect it to be deleted. It's obviously a politically motivated statement, and misleading as well. Your 2nd statement is true since a schedule 3 substance is still a controlled substance, but your first statement is completely false. The current administration NEVER PROMISED to take marijuana to a state of regulation matching that of alcohol IN ONE STEP!!
Biden did say that he would push to decriminalize marijuana at the federal level once in office, but never did he promise it would be done in just one step. There are several hurdles to clear to get to where we are now, requiring the DEA's involvement as well. The research to follow is necessary for the final steps of decriminalization.
Anyone or any news source complaining that we were actually lied to is definitely just looking to find a cheap shot at Biden and the Democratic Party, especially after the latest failed shit-show from radical Marjorie Taylor Greene and her dictator loving pals on the far right.
The Democrats have been trying to get to decriminalization, but they need bipartisan support. If hard right Republicans refuse to help and then call Biden a liar, then yes, that's a cheap shot. Pure bullshit.........

In a letter addressed to Attorney General Merrick Garland and DEA Administrator Anne Milgram, eleven Democratic senators , along with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), argued the administration “should deschedule marijuana altogether.”
