As President Joe Biden delivered his State of the Union address Thursday, former President Donald Trump was watching — and giving live commentary on his Truth Social platform, slamming Biden's claims and applying his own fact-checks.
Of the many parts of Biden's speech that got under Trump's skin, one was Biden's claim that the "pandemic no longer controls our lives," and that the vaccines that "saved us from COVID are now being used to help beat cancer."
In a post to Truth Social, Trump declared, "YOU’RE WELCOME, JOE."
"NINE MONTH APPROVAL TIME VS. 12 YEARS THAT IT WOULD HAVE TAKEN YOU!"
But Trump's attempt to take credit for rolling out vaccines angered many of his most loyal supporters who are also harsh critics of COVID vaccines, one of whom is Alex Jones who called the vaccine a "biological weapon."
"I love Trump but this is BS!" Jones wrote on a post to X. "The so-called vaccine is a biological weapon! Good news is people are awake and not even 45 can sell it."
Also lashing out at Trump was right-wing podcaster Tracy Beanz, who shared a screenshot of Trump's post and declared, "The amount of anger I have over this can’t be quantified in words."
Others agreed as well.
"He needs to get off this. It's a bad tactic," wrote podcaster and conservative activist Mark Pukita.
"His ego is too big to admit he got played," wrote X user Dr. Mollie James.
"We will never get accountability and it really p---es me off," another X user wrote.
"What the hell.....I'm so confused by this. I thought the [vaccine] was CAUSING cancer??" wrote another.
Jones has been one of the biggest purveyors of unproven claims about the COVID-19 pandemic and the vaccines that were produced to combat it. He was also one of the many opportunists who tried to sell bogus health remedies as the pandemic evolved.
