In msg 141421, dwfl28 has a link to a YouTube video with an interview with Stanley Carmichael, talking about CCR5 blockade in mice and how memories are effected also in people with traumatic brain injury.
Charmichael and Alcino Silva tried to do a trial on CCR5 blockade in Alzheimer's in 2021 but terminated it because of lack of recruitment of test subjects ostensibly. They enrolled two patients but one dropped out and I think the other got Covid.
I have wondered if there might have been other reasons because trials are expensive and others with deeper pockets may have also been doing research that scared them away from another crack at this research.
I did some reworking of the YouTube transcript of that video. If people are interested in that I can post it. Raw YouTube transcripts are a real mess and it is hard to fix all of the errors, especially for in a technical talk like that one.
