Polygon, MasterCard Announce Musician Accelerator
Post# of 119
MasterCard has partnered with blockchain platform Polygon to create the MasterCard Artist Accelerator, a groundbreaking musician accelerator program that will leverage Polygon’s technology to help emerging musicians use Web3 to grow their careers. The payment network processor will also include a MasterCard Music Pass in the program to provide emerging artists beyond the group selected for the accelerator with unique opportunities and educational resources via NFTs.
MasterCard’s entry into the blockchain space is poised to launch in spring and will connect industry mentors, including producers, musicians and DJs, with five aspiring artists from across the globe. The artists will receive guidance on how to build brands in the Web3 music space. They will also gain exclusive access to perks such as music and special releases as well as a first-of-its-kind guide on how to establish themselves in virtual worlds and build engaged communities.
Designed to run on Polygon’s technology, the program is a space for artists and creators to come together and develop their music communities, Polygon said. Fans will also be able to join the Polygon-hosted platform and learn how blockchain and Web3 could help them further their artistic endeavors alongside the artists.
MasterCard chief marketing and communications officer Raja Rajamannar described music as a “universal passion” that inspires, moves and brings people together. However, Rajamannar noted that budding artists often find it impossible to break into the music industry. The MasterCard Artist Accelerator program will help expand access to the often exclusive music industry and help budding musicians make connections using “cutting-edge Web3 technology.”
According to Rajamannar, MasterCard’s vision is to put a spotlight on talented emerging artists and help create an engaging and interactive community that provides participants with the chance to experiment, learn and grow as a collective. MasterCard will also offer additional support to budding musicians through the MasterCard Music Pass, a series of NFTs designed to make Web3 education more accessible to artists. The MasterCard Music Pass will provide artists with the knowledge and tools they need to explore blockchain and its expanding role in music.
Polygon Studios CEO Ryan Wyatt said Web3 and blockchain can lead to the birth of a new type of musician who can grow a fanbase, earn a living and connect with their communities using new means of self-expression, all on their own terms. Polygon has also partnered with LGN.io and Warner Music Group to launch an NFT music listening, collecting and trading platform called LGND Music.
Web3 is finding uses in many industries, as the MasterCard and Ploygon program shows its application in the music industry while NextPlat Corp. (NASDAQ: NXPL) (NASDAQ: NXPLW) and other companies are applying it in healthcare e-commerce.
