EFFICACY OF PULSED ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD THERAPY FOR PAIN MANAGEMENT AFTER IMPACTED MANDIBULAR 3RD MOLAR SURGERY. A RANDOMIZED CLINICAL TRIAL.
Conclusion
Pain and swelling after the third molar surgery hurt patients’ quality of life in the days following surgery. This study suggests that PEMF therapy, carried out by a wearable device after the surgical extraction of a mandibular M3, significantly decreases pain and analgesics taken. It is therefore an important tool for multimodal analgesia at home. Improved post-operative pain management through multimodal analgesia positively affects recovery and sickness absences. Similarly, it reduces that anxious state that the patient binds to the pain itself. All this therefore results in a better impact on health spending. The results reported by the authors are satisfactory and statistically valid and therefore suggest their use in the management of pain after surgery of the third mandibular molars. Equally important will be the development of miniaturized devices that do not compromise the daily life of subjects undergoing oral and maxillofacial surgery.
