MAGA Republicans on Friday decried the $148 million victory for two Georgia poll workers who found themselves at the mercy of an angry mob of right-wing trolls when Rudy Giuliani falsely accused them of election interference.
Far-righters such as Stephen Miller professed themselves outraged that Giuliani — who claimed a ginger mint was a USB drive full of fake votes funneled into Georgia's 2020 presidential election by mother and daughter Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss — had been found liable for damages.
"Madness!" Miller wrote on X Friday night. "While conservatives believe in objectivity, fairness, impartiality, and the rule of law, the left believes in vengeance and in the punishment and degradation of political enemies."
In the courtroom, Moss and Freeman detailed lives torn asunder after the 2020 election that included threats of lynching and angry rallies outside a home Freeman was ultimately forced to flee and sell.
The court awarded the mother and daughter $20 million each for emotional distress, $75 million between them for punitive damages and roughly $17 and $16 million respectively for defamation damages.
