This sub has been running silent and deep for some time now…seems we are reaching periscope depth and should get a peek at life above water for a change. It won’t hurt to surface also to air things out after that microwaved fish episode turned the air in crew-quarters foul.
There is a moment comes to mind in Wolfgang Peterson’s great film Das Boot where they are at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea well below the serviceable depth of the U Boat, bolts popping from the pressure, scarcely a hope when they exercise one last discharge of the ballast tanks…and their sub starts to rise from the bottom.
I think fresh air, a view, and movement could be right around the corner….
