Futures are looking Great......
World markets got a boost Monday after Cyprus and EU negotiators reached a deal on a €10 billion bailout for the tiny island nation.
Without a deal, the tiny state risked losing emergency funding from the European Central Bank as early as Tuesday. That would have meant financial collapse and almost certain exit from the eurozone.
A plan to tax all bank accounts, a key sticking point that had enraged Cypriots, was shelved.
European markets were higher in morning trading, while Asian markets ended mixed. The Shanghai Composite dropped 0.1%, the Hang Seng added 0.6% and the Nikkei increased 1.7%. After an initial bump, the euro was little changed against the dollar.
U.S. stock futures were higher ahead of the opening bell. With no major corporate earnings or economic reports on tap Monday, news on Cyprus could dominate.
U.S. stocks rose Friday on optimism over a possible deal in Cyprus, but still ended the weekly slightly down.
