Not to mention companies are already utilizing AI-like technology to select the most favorable chemical compounds from their arsenal or theoretical arsenal. You see it in many a PR. A company announces that they've utilized their proprietary machine learning platform to select three drugs for development. Hooray! Meanwhile, many many many many many many many many many many drugs work in theory before trials, where they end up unable to separate themselves from placebo. AI will absolutely help improve parts of the drug discovery and approval process, maybe even massively speeding up drug selection during future pandemics. But there's no chance in hell that within our lifetime anyone will allow an investigational drug to be trialed only by a computer model.
