I have been a Union President and also in Management so I have sit on both sides of the table. I both capacities I probably should have been the conflict resolution negotiator. As I always try to find middle ground.
As for the UAW imho. There demands are way off base. Just eliminating the tier system is mostlikely a 50% increase to company overhead. That in itself is a jobs killer. The Company will outsource before going their and mostlikey to Mexico.
As for Biden. He is already importing the replacement workers. They would probably work for 1/2 the $17 a hour.
That said. My bias is and has always been. Factory line workers are not skilled labor wheather it be auto manufacturering or other industries.
However, I do believe in a minimum living wage. That does mean I believe if you choose to work at McD for the rest of your life you should be paid $20 a hour to flip burgers.
Then again I don't believe rent should be $2500-3000 a month anywhere and or a 3 bedroom house should cost $500,000.00 or more.
Basically ...we have a runaway train and at present speed we are going to price ourselves out of the market.
To add...at present rate...we will soon have seniors on fixed incomes living in tents and or hitting the road permanently in RV's.
