My wife and I were heading to Puerto Vallarta back in 1980 and saw Mount St Helens plumming smoke from 36,000 ft...the mountain lost over 1300 feet of tip and left a horsehoe hole a mile wide. She was smoking a month later on the way back to Calgary...IT is still an active volcano...with hikers crawling all over the basin...I'd pass on the hiking...over 50 people lost their lives...on the day of the explosion...and damages on the ground level were chilling.
