tiedrich: "fuck yes, Donald Trump's trials should be televised there needs to be a visual record"

the revolution, as poet Gil Scott-Heron famously sang in 1970, will not be televised.

unfortunately, neither will the federal trials of Little Donny Fuckface.

cameras are barred from federal courthouses.

Marjorie Cohn, a professor emerita at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, writes persuasively in Truthout that in the case of Donald Trump, this is a good thing.

Be careful what you wish for, Democrats. Trump lawyer John Lauro said he would “love to see” his client’s January 6 trial televised. Lauro must know that Trump is a master at manipulating the media and a televised trial could put undue pressure on jurors to acquit him.

I don’t necessarily disagree with Professor Cohn, but I do believe the benefits outweigh the risks.

the Trump trials will be historic. never before has a shithole president conspired with his shithole flunkies to overthrow his own government because he was too big a baby to deal with losing an election.

never before has the same shithole president, now a civilian, stolen classified war plans, stashed them in the shitter of his tacky vermin-infested Florida golf motel, and waved them in the faces of randos at this equally-tacky New Jersey ex-wife cemetery.

there needs to be a visual record.

Donald Trump is a liar. whatever happens inside those courtrooms, he’s going to lie his fucking face off about it — and his gullible worshipers are going to eat it up.

and it won’t just be Trump doing the lying. Jim Jordan is going to lie about it. so will Kevin McCarthy. the entire wingnut outrage-industrial complex is going to be spinning the fuck out of this thing.

there needs to be a visual record. there needs to be an easy way to counter the lies.

our feckless media, terrified of being labeled biased, will find a way to both-sides the trials of an insurrectionist and confessed national security risk.

there needs to be a visual record.

we need to see for ourselves. with our own eyes.

yes, there will be a written record, but let’s face it, this is the 21st century and hardly anyone reads any more.

but there is a secondary need, this one more visceral.

Donald Trump has harmed our country in ways no other single person has before.

we need a public healing. we need a reckoning.

let the camera focus on the insolent scowl on Trump’s big dumb sweaty pumpkin face as his shitty crimes are read aloud in open court.

let’s all watch him pout as witness after witness details the lengths he went to break the law.

let’s all get to hear the guilty verdicts as they’re read aloud.

we had to endure years of fucking around. we deserve to be there to celebrate the finding out.

3. MAGAts et al will fight like panthers against cameras in the courtroom

The innocent have nothing to hide. Just sayin’.

4. Yes. Like the Nuremberg trials.

Like the Nuremberg trials. Eisenhower demanded there be a record of the atrocities lest we forget or worse, excuse it.

8. let the magats watch him melt into a gelatinous orange puddle.

let them see what he is ACTUALLY made of.
