The investigations of the 1/6 rioters DID begin two years ago; DOJ worked from the bottom up and they still are. Smith was appointed last Nov. after the 1/6 Committee referred it's findings to the DOJ.
Political hacks do not get appointed to the Hague to chase down war criminals.
The judge in FL decided on next May for the trial. we'll see what the trial date is for Smith's 1/6 case.

None of your fanciful conspiracy theory scenarios take into account that the orange mfr may be guilty of all that he is being charged with. Most of the testimony against Trump will be from republicans and much of the evidence is video, audio and written. 'I just need11K votes'.
