WTF, YOU weren't taught that. Was there some breakthrough scholarship on the subject? No, there wasn't.
At the TIME there were no skills being imparted to slaves, period. It was SLAVERY.
Jim Crow and de jure segregation were unnecessary racist obstacles for millions of blacks for 100 years. So was lynching.
Easy prediction, black and white kids will ask their parents about the claim and most of the parents will call it out as bullshit and tell the kids what the reality of the matter was.
