Dam building in Brazil threatens the earth’s
Post# of 17862

Dam building in Brazil threatens the earth’s most biologically diverse region in the world. One-third of all the world’s species live in the Amazon River Basin; one-third of the world’s tropical woods (2,500 tree species) occur only in the Amazon. The Amazon River and its tributaries, including the Xingu, supply 20% of the earth’s fresh water and have the highest diversity of freshwater fish. Brazil's dams are built before loggers can remove the trees, and until now, most could never be recovered. Enter Hollund Industrial Marine's TigerLynk underwater tree harvesting system. TigerLynk is modeled after the CanadArm used on the United States space shuttle, and was designed by the very same person.
