420 with CNW — Marijuana Retailers Celebrate 4/20 with Deals, Promotions
April 20, or 4/20 as the day is normally referred to, is an unofficial holiday celebrated by marijuana smokers across the Unites States and in other parts of the world. Marijuana retailers in America marked the day with in-store events, deals and promotions geared toward meeting their consumers’ needs and attracting new customers.
Many planned to run their promotions for a week or even a month instead of one day, which would go a long way in bringing in foot traffic.
Historically, 4/20 is a boon for marijuana retailers, with Treez CEO John Yang revealing that in 2022, the company’s aggregated sales increased by 25% during this holiday period.
Senior VP of Acreage Holdings, Kate Nelson, revealed that the company was focused on ensuring its customers had a wonderful experience during this holiday. Acreage Holdings, which operates in multiple states, had different volume-pricing opportunities daily in addition to holding giveaways every hour.
Another company, 4Front Ventures, allowed third-party vendors to hold pop-up events at its retail outlets. The company’s VP of store operations, Kristie Shaw, revealed that while the deals offered weren’t complex, they varied in each state.
Some businesses also launched new products and brands on this marijuana holiday. The Flower Shop, a vertically integrated company with operations in Utah and Arizona, launched a THC-infused seltzer dubbed High Tide; a range of marijuana products under the High Variety brand; and Ladylike, which has been designed to target female consumers. Company’s president Greta Brandt revealed that the company would be offering a promotion at its outlets that would run for 20 days to ensure expected foot traffic was accommodated.
Curaleaf Holdings, which is based in New York, has also held exclusive events and giveaways leading up to the holiday. The company recently introduced its revamped rewards program, which has more than 1.8 million members and covers 14 states. Under the program, consumers earn loyalty points that can be redeemed on future purchases at stores operated by Curaleaf.
This year’s celebration also marks three years since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, which saw many marijuana retailers adopt new ways to run their businesses and deliver products to consumers. For instance, some businesses offered drive-thru window pickups while others launched online ordering and curbside pickup.
These changes led to expansion in home-delivery networks and increased use in touchless-payment solutions, which makes it even more convenient for consumers to shop.
The marijuana industry is growing from strength to strength with each passing year, and this growth is leading to the opening up of opportunities for affiliated companies such as Advanced Container Technologies Inc.
