According to a couple of news reports (e.g. Washington Post) the White House plans to nominate Monica M. Bertagnolli, director of the National Cancer Institute (NCI), to lead the National Institutes of Health.
(She was one of the 2 folks interviewed about challenges of clinical trials and specific steps to improve them. Like not requiring loads of useless clinical trial data to be collected. https://investorshangout.com/post/view?id=6561265 )
She is an expert in clinical trials and a cancer surgeon. In looking at her background- she has focused on a few things that got my attention: on making studies less complicated/costly and on developing cancer treatments for the wide range of cancers -with reduced side effects.
Not sure if she knows about LL- but I sure hope she will. It seems to be exactly what they are looking for. Also not sure how closely NIH works with FDA- but would think she may have some influence if she gets the job. Especially since she has worked as part of the cancer “moonshot” initiative.
