That John Pennycamp park is an under water park, coral reef. They had a glass bottom excursion boat to see the fish out there about 1 mile off shore. I took it once in about 1983.They had bouy's to tie to, but anchors not allowed if you wanted to fish or dive there. We fished about a mile north of it, fewer boats. Great groupers and yellow tails and lots of grunts.. About a year or so after my folks sold it, Florida put size restrictions on some of the fish, especially the yellow tails. Much of what we caught we would have had to throw back when I fished the area. A friend of my dad's and his wife fished it many days a week and sold the fish to a fish market for some fun money.
Salty would have loved that.
Also,a year after my folks sold it, an Italian registered freighter plowed through the Pennykamp coral reef and did a lot of damage, big fine, etc. I heard Italy registers almost anybody and their ships did a lot of damage elsewhere back then.
Here was one Italian shipreck>>>>>
