A more accurate quote would be "Private companies CAN have value also." Being a private company is not a guarantee of value. There are lots of private companies with no meaningful value to the shareholders.

The answer to the question has almost nothing to do with the fact that private companies can have value - even massive value. That's obvious to the point of being banal.
The above referenced shareholders are happy because the companies pay dividends or distributions to those shareholders. Last time I checked, QMC has never returned any capital to its shareholders. As is so often the case here, the argument rests on a false and misleading comparison.
It's also worth noting that another reason why the shareholders are happy is because they know what's going on in the companies and are not kept in the dark.
