ROCK BAND by Lee Dahlberg was as simple as the idea of placing a “Rock” on a “Band”. But a bit deeper the stones have healing properties, the leathers are from consumed animals and the packaging is a backstage equipment case. All of which create a unique and natural work of art that has people looking good and feeling good.

I started the company by chance, remembering an image from a John Wayne film where he came into town on a horse wearing a large makeshift cuff with a piece of turquoise wrapped tight with leather strands. That hero image stayed locked in my mind from watching these films with my Grandfather. So years later while at my Ad Agency, I came up with the idea to make a modern version to honor my hero.
It was time to put up or shut up, so I sold my dream house that I had just built to fund the dream of “What’s Next.” Less than a month later my little idea was mentioned on Oprah’s favorite things, then E!, NYC Fashion Week, Donny Deutsch, American Idol, Vogue, Extra, MTV, dozens of other news outlets and thousands of celebrities. After that, I fought for vending licenses and was sold in Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales, Kitson, Fred Segal, Macy’s and hundreds of boutiques across the country. Later after a partnership with Swedish Hockey legend Peter Forsberg, ROCK BANDS by Lee Dahlberg were even offered in Europe and Scandinavia. |
From ROCK BANDS by Lee Dahlberg soon came ROADIES, which are bracelets as well with 6 smaller stones and as “Roadies” do, they support Rock Bands. Then came GROUPIES, which are necklace sets featuring 7 guitar picks with religious icons playing different instruments in a band together: Jesus as the Lead singer, Buddha on the Bass, a Rabi on Keys, The Pope on Lead Guitar and Shiva on Drums. These icons are also featured in my clothing designs. The underlying meaning being “What if they all played along.” And as necklaces and “Groupies” do, they hang around with the ROADIES and the ROCK BANDS. I also created ROCK CHAIN WALLETS, with the healing stones as the leash to a belt loop.
ROCK BANDS by Lee Dahlberg is about positive energy, a great story and love. In these times all of us could use a bit of each. As I move forward I hope to create partnerships that can get these messages out to the world and continue to be able to make something that touches people and leaves them with a smile. I love what I do and I love it more when others love what I do too.
