I used to study the biblical festivals for clues as to the timing, for throughout history He has purposely accomplished things on the timetable set by the themes of those feasts- see Grant Jeffrey:Appointment with Armageddon-- problem is we dont know what year etc

they hear something and if the prophesy says 'by spring' they naturally assume its the next spring- you can see these assumptions throughout history- the biggest example is that each generation assumes the rapture to occur in their generation-- before the basis of much prophecy -the present existence of israel- was even accomplished
thus apostle Paul writes 1 cor 7:26-35 based on the assumption "that the time [for His return] is short" and thus ppl should not change their status via the opposite sex-and all that partly based on his personal experience as his probable wife left him rather than be converted
so its nothing new-
and the push by those who dont believe in the present existence of prophets and apostles despite their presence throughout the new testament (Acts 13:1 etc) is that you have to be perfect-
but that assertion itself is akin to blasphemy. As jesus said, no man is good [perfect] and even a mature knowledge of the Lord will not be achieved until all five offices personally created by jesus for the church age are operating as designed- as per Eph 4:11-14- and the body is then created and ready for the millenium
what about Abraham - the 'father of faith' kept passing his wife off as his sister, giving his wife to various kings harems for fear those kings otherwise would harm Abraham-
do you see the problem- there are no perfect humans this side of the rapture-
the requirement by those who use the argument as a subterfuge because they dont believe in all of the bible- the 5 offices etc and Mt 10:1-8;mark 16:15-(which is backed by many NT passages) etc-is ridiculous and sets up a legalistic standard no person can follow= which results in a self-fulfilling prophecy- i've seen many generals/giants of faith fall partially as a result
