Corrupt FDA approves drug on sketchy data, no REAL proof of efficacy, and definite side effects like, you know, death.

But hey -- it's a big pharma submitting the application, and it's going to cost taxpayers a huge amount of money, so let's approve it !

And, say the FDA members who pushed it through, DO be sure to come and visit me in my chalet in Switzerland, and my other vacation home in the Caymans.

The Food and Drug Administration on Friday granted accelerated approval to an Alzheimer’s drug that slowed cognitive decline in a major study, offering patients desperately needed hope — even as doctors sharply debated the safety of the drug and whether it provides a significant benefit.

The FDA said the drug, called lecanemab, “should be initiated in patients with mild cognitive impairment or mild dementia stage of disease.” The approval was based on the treatment’s ability to remove a sticky protein, called amyloid beta — considered a hallmark of the illness — from the brain.

A more recent trial found the drug, which will be sold under the name Leqembi, slowed the progression of Alzheimer’s by 27 percent.
