I averaged 59.5 geese over 20 years of hunting geese hard. I used a Browning Gold 10 gauge and have nothing bad to say about that great gun. I also used a Beretta auto 12 gauge A 390 and loved that gun as a duck hunting gun. I also loved my Remington 3 “ magnum 1100 semi auto for ducks also. It all comes down to personal choice and what you are use to.
The difference in using a semi auto over a pump shot gun is longer time on the birds and more triples than just a double on birds on each flock you shoot at.
The difference from my BPS 3.5” 12 gauge to my Browning Gold 10 gauge was having to chase geese or just going out and picking up the geese after being shot with my 10 gauge. Every gun has it purpose and when you find a good gun you never get rid of it.
I have stopped hunting waterfowl now after shooting well over a 1000 geese and doing my Mecca hunt in Edmonton Alberta a few years back. I now spend my fall fishing salmon on my River Sled. It is a great way to spend my fall season.
