Long but oh so telling….”Let’s Go!”
Health equity—it’s about Time.
I am reminded by Eddie Pinero’s motivational video that the time is now to be boldly obnoxious as it relates to health equity. We over estimate what we can do in a day but underestimate what we can do in a year. 2023 will be a big year indeed but you don’t have to wait a week.
Do we really need debate on diversity in clinical trials? How is health equity, diversity and social justice being measured in “ESG”? If your company is only measuring activity and not outcomes— what are you really doing?
Let’s take all the “talk” and energy in panels, white papers, conferences, books, and speeches and actually do something about health equity. Guess what, you don’t need to wait until 2023! Join us today at NMHA for starters. Help us do our work.
www.theNMHA.org.
We are launching Operation Healthy You and Equityville in 2023. We are activating art in the fight for awareness of health equity. We are working to diversify clinical trials. Look for more on mental health and education for care giver’s of dementia patients. And we have not forgotten about the devastating impact of opioids on our communities. Stay tuned.
In America, Black women shouldn’t experience death rates 2x-3x higher. Thankfully one of our board members, Denise Pines is raising awareness with her film Birthing Justice and companies like ProgenyHealth, LLC are working to improve health outcomes for all pregnant women. Another board member, Jim Williams works tirelessly on raising awareness of prostate cancer issues. Our outgoing chair David Dalton began the fight and our new chair Chaitra Dalton with her wellness expertise will lead us into the future. And these are just a few of our great board.
We are thankful for the support of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and Amazon Web Services (AWS) and their Health Equity Innovation Award, and others. But health equity is a big lift that will take all hands on deck. There is no reason for regret when NMHA and others are doing the work and you have the means to help. We just need you to get behind us and add more wind to our sails.
Talk to us about what a social investment looks like. It will pay dividends.
Let’s not be busy about health equity, but rather, let’s actually do something. www.theNMHA.org.
