Open your eyes and see what is right in front of you. When the American work force is reduced from 71 million to 51 million on the retirement of the baby boomers by year 2030. Just who do you think is going to do all the menial jobs in this country? You? Your friends? Your neighbors? No one wants the menial jobs. But immigrants do. Illegal or not they want to work.
This country has had waves of immigration that has progressed our life’s and lifestyles. It was immigrants that built this country. Do you know your history? Who built the railroads? Immigrants did… who comes into this country hungry for any job they can find? Immigrants do. Your closed eye view of immigrants will only damage our economy and our lives as we know it.
Fact is… we don’t have enough automation just yet to replace the huge loss in retirement of the baby boomers. When you lose over 25% of the work force of this country who is going to replace these people? Fact is the bigger picture is we need bodies and we need workers to fill these jobs. Fact is… we don’t have a next large enough generation to take up the slack. Why is that? To understand why you would have to look at the economy for the last 70 years and understand how the people of this country have taken a step back in how we have progressed.
There was a time a shoe salesman could support a family in the 50’s that was buying a house and maybe one car and still had some money to put away for education of children and save a little for retirement. We don’t have times like this any longer. It now takes the average family to have two working parents to support a family and this family scraps by and might not have home ownership to call their own. Home ownership isn’t as common as it once was. This new family might not be able to afford many things we took for granted for generations before. Fact is… the generations we see retiring are having a hard time saving for retirement. I believe it is over 80 percent of current Americans has little to no retirement savings as they retire.
The people have been beat down from what use to be a revelation of the previous 100 years where workers fought for fair wages and unions delivered this to them. In the pre 1980’s our country had over 30% union jobs and fair wages and those jobs had pensions and company sponsored retirements to count on. Now we have less than 7% of our current jobs are Union and pensions and retirements by companies are gone and if your lucky you might have a matching 401k with your employer. Then if you are realistic in how you invested you might of done well in a limited choice investment that is heavily dependent on a stock market that has turned out to not be so rewarding and is now manipulated by the hedge funds and overall market manipulation. Do you know if you will have a retirement fund when you reach retirement age for sure? The day of defined pensions are gone. What will our old people do? Oh… there is social security… a fund to keep us out of poverty. That will take a 25% reduction in benefits by 2030. What will retires do?
Do you know how Social Security has been funded? By the working people for the retirees. So basically more working people then retirees to support the retired. This is now flipping to more retirees then working people because of a extra large generation is retiring right before your eyes. Yet you can’t see a problem. We will have a huge reduction in working people in this country. Tell me how we replace 20 million workers in this country? This is happening at a rate of over 10,000 people a day retiring right now. Do some research on baby boomers retiring.
Tell me we don’t need immigration to help fill the huge work force reduction. The governments federally elected people know this and they don’t want to fix the influx of immigrants because everyone knows we need them. Why can’t they fix this ongoing problem? Why don’t they try? This would seem an easy fix if they really wanted to fix illegal immigration. Yet nothing changes. We have went generations of not fixing this. This isn’t something new. It’s old news. It’s because we need these immigrants and many many more now… more than ever. So open your eyes to the big picture and see what this country needs and why. Immigration is a big subject that the politician pull at your heart strings with. It’s very political but never gets fixed? Hmmm… why is it this way? Open your eyes and see the truth of what is right in front of you. Tell me who is really lost and clueless to what or country needs right now. What we needed all along. Our future as we know it will be changing because of a reduced work force. See the big picture. Understand the impacts of the reduced work force… this is huge and is by far a bigger problem than a energy cost going up. Like I said before… open your eyes to the big picture.
