This blew me away in the call. This and Dr Gluck’s confident chortle from time to time.
Re: HIV cure and Sacha’s prezie however, at least two other items made my neck hairs rise up.
First, probably much more obvious to the doctors on the board, but SIV, the Simian/Macaque version HIV shares the same envelope. So let me say it again another way. SIV has the HIV envelope and therefore would interact with cell membrane receptors such as CCR5 in the exact same way that HIV in humans will. So testing drugs in macaques is the holy grail for HIV research. The HIV envelope makes it so.
Therefore, even though we so far have patient zero to report on in that one little promiscuous as shit Macaque, we can be confident that his little SimianIVirus, with HIV envelope will act the same way concerning binding to CCR5 in humans.
Second, and here I go paraphrasing because the facts don’t matter if you know the story. Regarding the AAV assisted in vivo production of Leronlimab in Macaque patient zero, Jonah Sacha said another amazing thing. After the patient was dosed, the viral load went down right close to zero. But then it bounced back. Even though Leronlimab was being created in the little Master Bater, he got virus coming back. But then…………..
After day 8 or 9, or maybe it was week 8 or 9, the little fuckers virus went back down to zero. And remained at zero. That’s frickin’ incredible…bly positive news to me. I wonder what the blip was about. Which chemotaxis frankly. But incredible.
