Yes, most of the conferences and presentations were for new leading-edge technology. Doctors are bombarded by information and developers are always looking for ways to impregnate their information in the minds of peers. Ex. I was working with a company that brought the 1st PET/CT to market. My wife's aunt had lymphoma and PET/CT was a breakthrough technology in diagnosing the spread of the cancer. I told her about it once I left the initial meeting and suggested she speak with her oncologist. He shot her down stating it was not proven technology. 1 year later he suggested to her that she have a PET/CT. The literature had penetrated the oncologists around the country. Industry, many times is well ahead of the physicians in the marketplace, so it is the job of industry to educate them. This is what happened today, IMO.
I really don't know the intent of this presentation in the management's mindset but in trying to figure this out I thought about this as the reason they did the CC.
