In terms of Cyrus hosting a call just to reassure us that things are ok in the wake of departing employees, I just can't see them wasting their time. Since the Nadering occurred they haven't seemed to care too much about sharing information. Or the daily share price. This sounds like quite a bit of presentation building just to try to "hide" the news of Ray and possibly Recknor leaving.
I'm of the opinion this will be somewhere in between a deeper dive into plans for the three main indications (Nash, Oncology, HIV) and an announcement of some sort of grant/funding or partnership. I can't imagine we'll get a real big story with this being during trading hours, but I also can't imagine they'd host this with nothing new to add. The first doesn't seem likely because of general trading regulations, and the second doesn't seem likely because they've gone out of their way to lay low and disseminate information only when necessary or when they truly have something to say. But there's nothing stopping them from releasing a premarket PR with some major news and then discussing it further in the call. I wouldn't bet on that though.
Lastly, I don't think it's about a buyout for a variety of reasons. But mainly because that's going to require a vote, time to consider the offer, and a better understanding of where we stand with LL's development today. In fact, maybe this update call is the first step in the buyout process we get to see publicly. We get the update informing us of how we should currently be valuing LL, then a buyout offer is announced and we're in a better position to accept it because it aligns with what our management team just explained. Many of us have numbers in our head that are ultimately way too high. If that perception was righted through a call like this, maybe a no vote turns into a yes vote for a much smaller, but ultimately fair number. I don't know. I still don't think it's about a buyout.
If I had to bet, I'd say it's finally nearing time for whatever our next phase is going to be (partner, going it alone, whatever) and this is when they share the blueprint with us before breaking ground and building a muthatrucking dynasty up in this bitch.
