Aben Resources Limited - reports impressive exploration results from the Slocan Graphite property in British Columbia
Aben's Multi-Year Area Based (MYAB) permit application remains under review by the provincial government, following consultation with two First Nations groups and the posting of a security reclamation bond.
Aben Resources (TSX-V:ABN, OTCQB:ABNAF) Limited provided a sweeping corporate update on impressive analytical results from surface exploration work completed in July 2022 on the Slocan Graphite property, 34 kilometers (km) northwest of Castlegar, in British Columbia.
The diversified Canadian gold and graphite exploration company said exploration work comprised field mapping, rock and soil sampling, and the evaluation of prospective drill sites for a planned future drill program.
Aben geologists took a total of 52 rock and 83 soil samples from areas within and outboard of the strong conductive anomaly identified by a 2010 airborne electromagnetic geophysical survey. Previous work has shown that flake graphite mineralization grading more than 4.5% is hosted in metamorphic rocks within the Tedesco Conductive Anomaly.
The company said results from the 2022 rock sampling program returned a range of grades from trace to 4.36% graphitic flake carbon, which reflects the variety of rock types from which the samples were sourced. A previously unsampled zone located 2 km northeast of the main conductive zone returned multiple samples with grades between 1-to-2% graphitic carbon, greatly extending the mineralized trend along strike.
The discovery compelled Aben to increase the size of the Slocan Graphite property to 2,826 hectares by adding a 439.4 hectare claim via staking. The main Tedesco Conductive Zone has never been drill-tested despite the compelling coincident geophysical conductor and the graphite-bearing surface rock samples, noted the firm.
The soil sampling program results correlate well with known graphite mineralization and will help to delineate new areas to target with increased sampling density, mechanical trenching, and potential drill holes.
Update on permit application
Aben said it formally submitted a Notice of Work application for the Slocan Graphite property with the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation in Spring 2022. The Multi-Year Area Based (MYAB) permit application remains under review by the provincial government, following meaningful consultation with two First Nations groups and the posting of a security reclamation bond, explained the company.
“Communication between Aben, the Ministry and the First Nations is ongoing and progressive, yet a definitive date for receipt of the exploration permit remains uncertain,” added the firm.
The Slocan Graphite project is owned by Eagle Graphite (TSX-V:EGA) Corporation, and is one of only two natural flake graphite production facilities in North America. Aben holds the exclusive right to earn a 100% interest, less 2% Net Production Royalty (NPR) in the road-accessible Slocan project.
Graphite is the most preferred battery anode material for rechargeable batteries and the battery segment is anticipated to create an incremental opportunity worth US$4.6 billion between 2020 and 2025.

News on Eagle Graphite's graphite quarry:
Eagle Graphite Reaches Extension Agreement With Debtholder

The company is confident that the delinquent financial reports will be filed before year end and trading will resume.
Although many of the mines in the area have been put on hold for various reasons, one is still going strong and plans to expand – perhaps by a factor of 10.
Eagle Graphite owns a quarry and production plant in the south Slocan Valley, one of only two natural flake graphite production facilities in North America. The Black Crystal quarry is on Hoder Creek Forest Service Road. The plant is at the junction of Little Slocan River and Koch Creek.
CEO Jamie Deith says five people are working at the moment. “It’s the off season and the graphite markets have just recently recovered from a severe slump. A full complement when we are in operation is closer to 25 full-time people, plus numerous contractors providing services of various kinds.”
The graphite market has not only recovered, it is growing rapidly, thanks to the trend towards electric vehicles and the growth of battery production. Deith says if Eagle Graphite is going to fill the contracts it already has, it will have to expand production substantially.
“That’s before counting any additional graphite that might be required for batteries and electric vehicles, and if things go the way we anticipate over the coming years, then we might need to expand capacity more than 10-fold.
Deith is proud that Black Crystal quarry has an unusually light environmental footprint. Graphite is easily liberated from the sandy host material through a low-energy, water-based flotation process that generates only environmentally benign, marketable by-products. Water is recycled to minimize net consumption and eliminate discharge requirements. The primary sand and gravel by-products are sold to local buyers. The finished graphite is non-toxic and non-reactive.
The Black Crystal project is located in the Slocan Valley area of British Columbia, Canada, 35km West of the city of Nelson, and 70km North of the border to the USA. The quarry and plant areas are the project’s two main centres of activity. Sandy, graphite-bearing feed material is excavated from the quarry, located along Hoder Creek Forest Service Road to the south of Valhalla Provincial Park. The feed material is delivered via Forest Service Road to the plant, located at the junction of Little Slocan River and Koch Creek (pronounced “Coe Creek”). The plant is strategically located for access to hydroelectric grid power and plentiful water for processing. Permitting and infrastructure for graphite production have been in place since 2001.
The Quarry Permit includes the Hoder Creek Quarry allowance for haul road access, waste and product stockpiles; and exploration of the “Bo Zone” adjacent to the Processing Plant. The Quarry Permit is the material permitting requirement that would allow Eagle to move forward in reactivating the Hoder Creek Quarry and Processing Plant should the requisite financing be available. Should a commercial production decision be made by Eagle, the Quarry Permit approved the following 5 year production schedule (after which time a subsequent 5 year plan will be submitted for re-approval)
The Quarry Permit and corresponding conceptual production schedule approved by the Ministry of Energy and Mines was based on a conceptual mine plan submitted by management of Eagle and was not based on a feasibility study or economic assessment. Accordingly there can be no certainty that the permitted production schedule could be achieved if production were to commence. Any commercial production decision made by management would assume inherit increased risks and uncertainty as to the economic and technical viability of the project.

Strong buy signal in mining stocks reflects investor's bullish sentiment.
Delayed one year due to Federal Reserve's drastic interest rate hikes, the prolong waited uptrend has begun, gold price is heading back to historical high of $2,100 and XAU is resuming its uptrend. Technically, ABN.V should surge back above 15 cents, the Neckline of the 5-year Head-And-Shoulder formation, then beyond as exploration in Slocan Graphite heats up in the Spring, perhaps followed by drilling in the prolific North Boundary zone of Forrest Kerr whose drilling permit is good till March, 2024 with extension if needed. The Justin gold project is a wild card that can has significant positive impact on the company's finance.
