Someone having "dealmaking skills" does not equate to SELLING THE COMPANY.
When you make a deal for your client, are you selling him or her? Or are you getting money for work done?
In your universe, do deals in biotech only involve selling companies, or do they involve PARTNERSHIPS?
In the world the rest of us live in, people with "dealmaking skills" are able to do things besides selling their company, OR finding partnerships. They also can offer guidance as how best to proceed to grow a company to the point where they CAN make a partnership deal, or to the point of financial independence that doesn't require a deal.
There's another kind of deal too -- settling a case in which a company was screwed by its contractor.
"Dealmaking" is not a synonym for "Selling" -- even if we buy your premise that the board members are only "dealmakers." I, for one, do not buy your argument, not one bit.
