i agree. cyrus seems impressive. but there were no tangible updates whatsoever. i get that we're now trying to be conservative in communicating - but this was supposed to be the update for shareholders - who haven't heard from the guy since he started. and they have supposedly been grinding on getting this hold lifted day & night. I didn't take anything away on when it may be lifted, or even what the progress was. And HIV was a black hole. The only thing i know for sure is that we've bagged COVID (which has been self evident for a long time), and we have a new mission statement with 3 goals. I like it, but i was expecting a bit more - but then again, i'm just a shareholder.
on the topic of buyout offers, one thing to keep in mind - we're all just gnats on the elephant (unless some here are big names on that S-3). let me put that another way, if a BP came in and offered $5 / share, David Welch makes $200MM - not too shabby. And even Cyrus, who just got 1.6MM options plus i'm sure other shares (so let's say 2mm shares) clears a cool $10MM. Not bad for a few months' work. Paulson makes many millions - all in a short period of time. and those guys are just economic animals - that's their business.
So while i agree that $5 buyout for example would be disappointing (at least it would for me), the big boys may well take it and move on to another game. And they outvote us all by about 100X.
