Ballot Tampering Election Supervisor Charged

The Attorney General for Michigan has formally charged a Genesee County official with “ballot tampering” in the 2020 election. Currently the election supervisor for Genesee County, Kathy Funk is accused of crimes she allegedly committed while serving as Flint Township clerk.
Ballot Tampering in 2020
The state of Michigan has been fiercely fighting accusations of election impropriety since the votes were cast in November of 2020. Ballot tampering charges against a clerk in hotly contested Flint Township adds more fuel to the already blazing inferno of deceit.
In August, as the election approached, she narrowly squeaked past her primary to hang on to the clerk job.
Right after that razor close primary, Funk “reported a break in at the township office.” It seemed sort of odd that as part of the break in, “a seal on a ballot container had been broken.”
Nobody bought that story because it seemed way to contrived. The Michigan State Police were called in to do an investigation. Once they got done combing through the evidence, their report convinced the AG to file charges.
It seems that the real reason for the engineered break in is that “Funk purposely broke the seal.” State law makes it crystal clear that “votes in a container with a broken seal can not be counted in a recount.”
Funk obviously was worried that they might not match up with the official ballot tally. Worried enough to cook up a burglary to cover her tracks.
As spelled out in the charging documents, Funk is looking at felony charges for ballot tampering and more felony charges for misconduct in office. Each one of those is good for a five-year stay at the gray bar hotel.
Her arraignment is set for a date in the near future when the 67th District Court gets around to it.
Ms. Funk was hired as Genesee County’s election supervisor last year. It’s going to be hard to justify allowing her to maintain that position with felony ballot tampering charges hanging over her head.
County Clerk John Gleason hasn’t been answering his phone. Even though the state’s attorney general, Dana Nessel, is a devout Democrat, she knows this one can’t be swept under the rug.
Kathy Funk was caught red handed with her hand in the ballot box all the way up to her elbow. Nessel decided she better at least act like “her department is committed to prosecuting election violations.”
The evidence is overwhelming enough that this one can’t slide on by. “Election officials must uphold the integrity of their positions. Those who abuse that commitment undermine the very foundation of our democracy.” Especially, when they get caught.
